Our team here at Exploding Phone has been in the mobile app development business since the creation of the Apple App Store in 2008, incidentally during the last global melt-down. The Exploding Phone management team has always striven to create a friendly, relaxed office environment and culture as it believes this results in greater productivity and promotes technical excellence. This has carried over into the new working model but with daily team Zoom calls replacing 'over the monitor' catch-ups and with Slack providing a medium for both sharing ideas and office banter.
Most of our engineers currently work from home with prospect and client meetings taking place over video conferences. However, one member of staff still works from the office to be available for deliveries and to provide added security. While there has been a slight decrease in the number of sales enquiries we have seen a significant increase in requirements for COVID-19 functionality extensions to existing systems. We are pleased to be able to help existing and new clients respond to extremely challenging circumstances however we are also are seeing evidence of the old adage that there is nothing like a crisis to hasten the inevitable.
As discussed above we have seen a dramatic increase in workload, to the point where we are about to start recruiting more developers. Given the urgency of our customers’ business requirements we have done our best to expedite delivery of new apps resulting in our designers and staff regularly going the extra mile.
